The Edinburgh Festival fringe is almost upon us. Every year the world’s largest arts festival takes over our fair city turning Edinburgh into an eclectic hub of music, arts and comedy.
Here at the Ghillie Dhu, Venue #410, we offer tourist and locals alike a traditional Scottish pub with everything from whisky flights to the best local live music. Read below to find out more about what we have on offer.
Burly Ceilidh Club
We are known for our weekly ceilidh club and August is no exception. Ceilidhs (Pronounced kay’lee) has been a tradition in Scotland for centuries, often used as a social gathering where friends and family would get together to tell stories, sing songs and participate in group dances.
Now a ceilidh is solely dancing commonly seen at weddings and family parties but we at Ghillie Dhu have brought the ceilidh to the masses.
With some of the best local ceilidh bands to talk you through each dance it is perfect for any nationality!
Just £35.00 per person includes a welcome drink, 3 course meal, live ceilidh band and DJ

The Royal Edinburgh military tattoo is a central part of the Edinburgh Fringe, with amazing performances from around the world held in the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle itself.
Just a stone’s throw away from the Castle, the Ghillie Dhu is the perfect pit stop for a delicious pre-tattoo dinner. We can accommodate anyone from small intimate dinners to large group dining in our cosy main bar.
Our chefs have created a delicious traditional Scottish menu which we have paired with Scotland’s national drink, whisky!
From just £19.95 including a dram of whisky.
Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face, great chieftain o’ the pudding-race!
You cannot visit Edinburgh in August and not enjoy a plate of haggis! You’ll see these delightful creatures running on their lop sided legs on Arthurs seat but it is much better to enjoy them in the plush surroundings of our bar!
Pop in and get two plates of Isle of Arran Haggis for just £10.00 and add a drap of whisky sauce for just £2.00 extra!
We also have an extensive menu on offer with tasty local delights such as Scottish Rope Mussels, Scottish Salmon and of course a boozy Cranachan!
